Navajo Code Talkers

NAVAJO CODE TALKER RECEPTION
10/30/08

Skipping Stone Studio was invited to capture a moment of history as the Navajo Code Talkers, who served an invaluable role in both WWI and WWII, were honored at a reception in Dallas.

The event, hosted by the Frontiers of Flight Museum at the Dallas Lovefield Airport, gave veterans the opportunity to reunite and share their courageous stories. Navajo Code Talkers used a code developed from their native language to transmit top secret information by radio to fellow United States troops.

Three of the 50 remaining Code Talkers attended and gave demonstrations of the Code, which was classified until 1968. There is no evidence that the transmissions were ever deciphered by enemy forces.

For more information on the Navajo Code Talkers, you can visit the Frontiers of Flight Mueum website: http://www.flightmuseum.com/

A Little History

SKIPPING STONE STUDIO--ABOUT US
10/19/08

Skipping Stone Studio has provided exceptional photography services for the community since its creation in 2001. Located in beautiful Southlake, Texas, the studio now offers several types of photography, including, in studio and outdoor location portraits, event coverage, commercial illustration, and more. Owner, Charles Brabham, opened Skipping Stone Studio as a one-room office building and it has since grown into a 3,000 square foot studio with a sister studio, Ripples Photography Studio, opening soon in 280 Sports.

Charles's interest in photography began in the Highland Park Methodist Church darkroom where he spent much of his spare time in junior high. He went on to pursue photography and business in college, and later taught a class on darkroom production at a local junior college. After moving to the Southlake area in 2001, he created Skipping Stone which expanded to better serve the community while still maintaining the welcoming atmosphere that so many have come to associate with Skipping Stone Studio.

At Skipping Stone Studio, the dedication to providing quality portraits extends beyond the artistic merit of each photograph. “I believe portraits are the most important photos of all,” says Pamela Peck, the lead studio photographer, “A great picture of a loved one is irreplaceable. My favorite photos are not just ones I’ve even taken, but old portraits of my grandparents as children and my parents on their wedding day.“ The close-knit staff is committed to provide a standard of excellence and customer satisfaction through the in-depth sessions at Skipping Stone as well as with a new sister location, Ripples Photography Studio, opening soon in 280 Sports, the premier sports complex of Southlake.
